Limehouse Andrea and Ben would like to thank all their friends at Llanishen Methodist Church for the generous support given when they walked the London Marathon on
April 13th 2008.

It took them 6 hours 42 minutes and they raised nearly £6000 for the Breast Imaging Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woowich, £300 of which was donated by people in Llanishen.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

MARATHON
LIONS TACKLE THE BIG ONE
[from the Millwall Football Club programme for the home match against Gillingham on Saturday April 5th 2008 p.7]

Next Sunday sees 35,000 people take part in the London Marathon. Most will be doing it to raise money for important causes, among them some friends of ours.
Let the introductions start with Lions press officer Andrea Tennant:
"On April 13th I will be walking the London Marathon with my fiance Ben in order to raise money for the Breast Imaging Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. I was diagnosed with breast cancer while training for last year's marathon and over the last year I have had most of my treatment at QEH. Any and all donations will be very gratefully received. Please visit our justgiving page which you [were able to] find at www.justgiving.com/andreaandben (no longer available). Many thanks."

MILLWALL WORKER'S LONG ROAD TO CANCER RECOVERY
[from the "Southwark News" April 10th 2008 p.26]

Millwall press officer Andrea Tennant will be walking the 26.2 mile course just seven weeks after completing her recovery from cancer.
Andrea was diagnosed with breast cancer midway through training for last year's marathon, just six weeks before the big day. She told the 'News' how she is looking forward to  hitting the tarmac for her third marathon - albeit at a slower pace: "I really just can't wait. When I found out I could not do it last year - I was truly upset. I could only carry my place over for one year so this was my only chance for the hat-trick."
Brave Andrea had her last radiotherapy session back in February and was straight back into training, but insists that the day to day work in the Millwall press office is training enough on its own:  "It was difficult to train while I was receiving treatment; the radiotherapy really took it out of me. Just getting back into normal life, carrying the bags back from the shops and working full time at Millwall kept me ticking over.
"Walking the route will be strange. It will be different being at the back with the walkers and scuba-divers, but quite a unique experience."
