| "Bring a Friend to Church on Tuesday" March 10th 2009 . |
||||
Ian Thomas introduced the Citizens Advice Bureaux for whom he has worked for 25 years in the "back room". We were treated to a confident, knowledgeable and, at times, amusing expose of the CAB with which Ian showed himself to be totally in tune. For most of us a revelation. |
||||
| We heard of the CAB's history going back to 1939 when it was set up to help people cope with war time restrictions and regulations | We heard of the large numbers of people seeking advice today about debt,
housing, relationships, consumer rights, and welfare benefits. The CAB's encyclopeaic familiarity with legislation, regulation, obligation is obviously tested from hour to hour. |
Underpinning it all is the core intent to "provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities." The CAB "values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination." | ||
