| "BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH ON TUESDAY" May 20th 2008 The Wales Korean Church in Cardif | |||
|
"Say Thank You!"
The
Rev Jakob Park and his wife, SookYi, brought a lively group from the
Wales Korean Church in Cardiff (who meet at Park End Presbyterian
Church) to lead the May 'Bring a Friend to Church on Tuesday' session.
With slides and music, drama, song and Mr Park's first address in English we had a varied and stimulating evening. The meeting opened with the familar words of the paraphrase of psalm 103, "Praise my soul the King of heaven".
The Korean hymn book printed the words in English and Korean, with both
set to the tune "Regent Square". This served to emphasis growth of the
church in Korea from British roots.

| It is the aim of this small fellowship to meet with every Christian congregation in Wales to say "Thank You" for the Welsh conribution to their national and church life. We are the second congregation to have been visited (after Pontprennau Community Church). | |||
| The slide sequence showed pictures of Welsh soldiers in the UN forces engaged in horrific conditions during the Korean "Civil War" of the early 1950s. The South Koreans remember with gratitude the sacrifices that were made. | Mr Park told us of the first martyr, Germaine Thomas, whose sacrifice spoke of his faith louder than words. He also drew attention to the origins of the Korean church growth in the Welsh Revival of 1904. Almost 50% of the population is now Christian. | ||
